Daily Figment 105: 1976 Golf

3. Championship Golf Courses-Two championship courses open to the public, including the Magnolia (18-hole, 6,797-yard, par-72) and the Palm (18-hole, 6,577-yard, par-72). These challenging courses are the site of the PGA's annual "Walt Disney World Golf Classic," featuring the touring pros yearly National Team Championship.

You can really see, from this segment of the map, how Disney keeps its golf courses so well manicured. And he probably works for quackers.

In 1976, only two golf courses existed. Today we have five 18-hole championship courses and one 9-hole course with 99 holes altogether. Don't forget the mini-golf options, either!

For a pretty cool website about Golf at Walt Disney World, visit Marc's Walt Disney World and Golf Site.

According to our friend Tony, at This Day in Disney History, the Eagle Pines Course opened on January 23, 1992. There is a blog post about the early history of the Magnolia Golf course here.
