Len Testa Live and North Carolina Geekfest!

I was able to attend a program at the Eva Perry Regional Library in Apex, NC (close to Raleigh) last Saturday. Len Testa from Touringplans.com was the speaker and he spent over an hour discussing how to make the most out of your vacation at Walt Disney World. In addition to sharing great advice, he spent time answering questions and autographing copies of the Unofficial Guide. He tried to sign my copy of the Lines app on my phone, but it just didn't work out. If you ever get the chance to see Len Testa live, do it. He is a great speaker and will answer any question!

There is another Disney event scheduled for Saturday, February 18 at the Cameron Village Library in Raleigh and it is being co-hosted by Ryan Wilson of the MainStGazette. This should be an all-out geekfest, so make sure to put it on your calendar right now!

A Disney Documentary and A History of the Parks
A screening of the film Disneyland Dream about a family winning a trip to Disneyland in 1956 with Marsha Orgeron, head of N.C. State's Film Studies Dept.
Plus, Disney theme Park history with (the awesome) Ryan Wilson of MainStGazette.com.

Meet the Imaginerds!

Did you miss the Wall-E viewing last month in High Point?

Looking for another chance to meet fellow Disney Nerds?

Andrew and I will be presenting a program at the Eva Perry Regional Library in Apex, NC on Tuesday, July 29 at 7:00 pm (close to Raleigh).

Get this...we're calling the program...The Disney Details.

We plan to share some of the inside secrets and details that will make your next Walt Disney World vacation more enjoyable and fun. Not just travel tips, mind you...but little bits of trivia and history of the parks that others might not know.

And we promise it won't JUST be outtakes from the Crate Appreciation Society Meeting Minutes.

Space is severely limited to 42 people and you do have to pre-register. Call the Eva Perry Regional Library at 919.387.2100.
Annette Owens from MouseFan Travel will be on hand to laugh and scoff at the Nerdy Boys!

You can get directions by using your favorite mapping program:

Carolina Disney Meet!

Join Jeff Pepper (from 2719 Hyperion), Andrew and me for our first Carolina Disney Meet.

We will be meeting at a theater in High Point on Saturday, June 28 for a matinee showing of Wall-E.

Email me (biblioadonis at yahoo dot com) for more information about the theater and time. We hope to see you there!

We are planning other meets across the state, so drop us a line or leave a comment if you want to attend a future event. I think our next meet is actually going to be in the Raleigh area...

Addendum: Several people have inquired about tickets for the movie. The theater does sell advanced tickets. You will need to purchase your ticket in advance through the theater website. I will forward details upon request.

My New EPCOT Center T-shirt--fresh from Walt Disney World!

Disney Geeks friend Matt, spent a week at Saratoga Springs with his family after Labor Day. He brought me back this really cool EPCOT Center T.

Check out the awesome new logo!

Matt is an avid (read: rabid) collector of Disneyana and has just started down the Geek path of tracking down rare Disney books. Unfortunately, Matt doesn't have an online persona, yet, so I can't give him a proper shout-out. But a lot of you will get to meet him when we have our first Carolina Disney Meet in October. Stay tuned for more details!

Meeting a Disney Legend: Charles Ridgway at Barnes & Noble, Winston-Salem, NC 6/5/2007

The Disney Geeks had a great time listening to Charles Ridgway, Disney Legend, talk about his experience working with Walt Disney and the Disney Company. Mr. Ridgway talked about putting 50 hats on 50 ducks, opening Walt Disney World, meeting and working with Walt Disney and opening Disneyland Paris. He showed us some pretty rare slides and some great shots of him trying to get out of the way of the pictures.

You can read about his career in his new book, Spinning Disney's World. It is one of those rare reads where you feel like you are reminiscing with an old friend. You can tell he truly enjoyed his 30+ years working for the Walt Disney Company.

Thanks to Jeff Pepper for setting up the signing. You can see more pictures from the event at my Flickr account.

Check back over the next several days to read about our questions for Charles and his answers--as well as our thoughts on meeting a Disney Legend.
